Kanazawa Zoo with PaPa!

A little closer up

Papa, me, and the boys jumped in the car to go see some animals at Kanazawa Zoo.  It was a little cool, but very nice weather.

At the monkey exhibit, we ran into a charismatic fella.  See the video below.

We took a break from all the animal excitement and tried some different kinds of ice cream.  We also checked on the giraffes while C was researching our next move.

                           After we left the zoo, there is a park nearby with a long roller slide.  Crazy Papa jumped on it with the kids and rode it down.  They had a blast and you can generate some speed on the way down.  Brakes are applied with your shoes by pressing them against the sides. The slide continues on to the right after the straightaway and its a pretty good hike to get back up.   The video is from my phone and it was getting dark, but you get the idea.

Kanazawa Zoo and Slides

We have been seriously missing the San Diego Zoo, and while we enjoyed Ueno Zoo in Tokyo, it is way too far away for a quick trip. We ended up checking out a really small zoo close to Yokosuka called Kanazawa Zoo. Coop always loves to see giraffes (I still remember when he was obsessed with penguins!), and Sam is mainly just concerned with running free.

Ueno Park and Zoo

 One of the coolest things about Tokyo is that you can go a million times and still find something new to see or do. Our latest discovery was Ueno park/zoo. Rain was in the forecast but that didn't stop us from venturing out to see some animals! The train ride was super easy and while there are never enough elevators when we need them, the kiddos were in good spirits and that's about half of the battle when trying to sightsee with little ones!
